Hi, guys! So the questions I get often are “how long have I been natural?” and “have I ever had a perm before?” Well, I have never ever had a perm (shout out to my mom for telling me no as a teenager) and I have had long hair all my life. However, I have cut it, dyed it, and abused my hair by using too much heat. Ooh, chile… my Chi Iron and I used to be the best of friends. But now she’s like that flakey friend that I see maybe every six months to a year. Haha!
Anyway, I ultimately had to start all over again by cutting my hair to chin length. And yes, yes I did cry about it. I eventually transitioned from thin, brittle, over processed hair to long healthy hair by wearing my hair in protective styles. I wore my hair in two strand twist, havana twist, and cornrows braided into an updo style. I also made sure that the person doing my hair did not braid my hair too tight and I made sure to keep my hair moisturized by oiling my scalp with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil once every two weeks depending on how dry my scalp was at the time. I also wrapped my hair at night in a scarf to keep the braids neat. That’s pretty much it.
With the new natural hair feature added to the site. I will post product reviews, my hair care tips that I have learned over the years, my current hair regime, and my favorite YouTube hair gurus, etc.
Also, if you would like to share your natural hair journey then please submit your pics and your story to my email firstname.lastname@example.org to be featured. I would like to have a variety of textures represented on my blog, so please share your story with us! We would love to hear from you.
